About Ember Enigma

Ember Enigma is an independent, self-funded fragrance discovery site created and run by two fragrance enthusiasts who, in keeping with the Ember Enigma spirit, prefer to remain behind the scenes.

It grew from a long-standing fascination with niche, artisan, and exceptional perfumery. What began as a personal hobby became a dedicated space for discovering remarkable scents across every budget, finding thoughtful fragrance gifts without the retail pressure, and keeping up with new releases as they emerge. We are not a retailer or a perfume house. We do not sell bottles, hold stock, or take commissions.

There are two of us behind the site. One of us searches for the latest fragrance releases, interesting perfume houses, and scents worth adding to our growing catalogue. The other builds Ember Enigma itself, creating the site, quizzes, filters, guides, and interactive tools that make it easier and more enjoyable to explore fragrance. Technology helps us organise fragrance information, compare notes and accords, and uncover connections between scents, styles, seasons, and fragrance families, but the perfumes added to Ember Enigma are chosen by us.

Alongside traditional fragrance families, Ember Enigma offers an optional astrological way to explore scent. We associate each star sign with its classical element, fire, earth, air, or water, and connect those elements with characteristic fragrance notes and styles. Think warm spices and resins for fire signs, grounding woods and mosses for earth signs, and so on.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and normalised to a 50 ml equivalent, making it easier to compare fragrances sold in different bottle sizes. We group them into four simple price bands: under £50, £50 to £80, £80 to £160, and £160+. These figures are based on representative UK retail pricing and are intended as a practical guide rather than a live price guarantee.
